Austin Echols joined the staff of HBC in November 2007 after serving our partner church, Ridgewood Baptist Church, for nearly 3 years. Austin’s previous church appointments include Bass Soloist at Christ Church Cathedral in Louisville, KY and associate organist at Erlanger Christian Church in Erlanger, KY.  Austin has served as the accompanist for Dr. Kent Hatteberg and the Choral Department at UofL as well as the Louisville Orchestra Chorale since 2005. Austin accompanied for the KMEA All-Collegiate Choir in 2006. Austin attended the University of Louisville School of Music studying voice, piano and conducting. 

Aside from his passion for Sacred music, Austin performs regularly at conventions and festivals throughout the World. Most recent prformances include the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) National Convention in Oklahoma City, OK (2009), the ACDA Southern Division Convention in Louisville, KY (2008), the Voices of the Baltics Choral Conference in Tallinn, Estonia (2007), the World Symposium on Choral Music in Kyoto, Japan (2005), and the Marktoberdorf International Chamber Choir Competition in Marktoberdorf, Germany in 2005. Solo vocal engagements have included performances with the Louisville Choral Arts Society and Dr. James Rightmyer of Mozart’s Vesperae solennes de confessore K.339, J.S. Bach’s Mass in B Minor and St. Matthew Passion. A “finely focused bass” (Marty Rosen–The Courier Journal), Austin presented a concert of Bach cantata’s with internationally recognized soprano Julianne Baird in 2007.
