SIMONSimon was a member of the Zealot party.
He was successor to James the Just as bishop
or pastor of the Jerusalem Church. Simon
holds a fish on a book, referring to his
success in fishing for men through the gospel.
He holds an ax because he is said to have been
martyred by being beheaded. At the bottom of
this panel is Christ preaching in the temple. |
