JOHNJohn, brother of James and son of Zebedee,
was a fisherman from Galilee. The Bible
refers to him as "the disciple whom Jesus
loved." John holds a cup which symbolizes
the prediction that John and James should
drink of the cup that he should drink if
they were to sit with him in heaven.
Above John's head is the eagle, symbol
of the fact that he also was John the
Evangelist. At the bottom of the panel,
we see Christ standing on the hill
overlooking Jerusalem. |
